Sent By Ravens was formed in January 2006 by Jamie Windham (bass), Andy O'Neal (guitar) and Andy Warren (vocals). In August 2007 after searching for a drummer, the band found Dane Andersen (drums) through a video he posted of himself on YouTube. Impressed by his drumming in the video, he was invited to the band. The new drummer recommended James "JJ" Leonard Jr. (guitar) to the band as another guitar player, he and JJ having been lifelong friends. The band's name comes from the Biblical story of Elijah.[1]
The group released two EPs in 2007 and 2008 independently.[2] In August, 2009 the band signed to Tooth & Nail Records.[3] This is the same label of such bands as Underoath, Emery, Thousand Foot Krutch, Anberlin, and Family Force 5. In support of the new album Sent by Ravens performed with Papa Roach, Nonpoint, Richy Nix, It's Alive, Host to Another, and toured with Emery.
The band's first full-length album for Tooth & Nail, Our Graceful Words was released in April 2010.[4][5][6][7] The album charted at #35 on Billboard Top Heatseekers.[8][9]
